A scottish affair

Scotland trip started with a bang. Literally. Yeah.. We were on the M1 ( the motorway, england's version of an expressway) when the car in front of us slowed down suddenly. Thankfully not much damage was done, ( cept my 100 pounds deoposit on the car rental) Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and was the first destination on our list. Getting to Edinburgh ain that hard if you go along the main motorways all the way up north. The hard part is tryin to stay entertained during that 6 hour journey. We set off at 6 am in the mornin and didnt get there til 2. That's 8 hours on the road non stop! So first, we went to see the Edinburgh castle, which we had to pay 9 pounds to get in, naturally we rather take in the view from outside. Stomachs rumbling from the really long journey, we headed to the nearest place for a Traditional Scottish meal. Haggis and Tatties. Haggis is mince pork lung, heart, liver and stomach... and tatties is mince raddish and carrots. Its well.. an acquired taste i guess.. ha.. but its really filling. Most english food is anyway. not satisfying, just filling.

With the sun setting at like 4, and shops closing at 6. there really ain much to do but go back and sleep.. Oh well.. we have to set off early the next morning anyway.. Its off to Inverness.

On the wayts to inverness we went to St Andrews.. and Perth.. and finally up to inverness. It was on this journey that i saw one of the most magnificant views.. 360 panaromic view of snowy white mountains... nothing can get more surreal than that during the festive season. THis was a true white christmas. Pictures cant do justice to the views.

At inverness we went to see the loch ness!!! yeah. Well Loch is lake in scottish. ( the Scottish have their own language, they spoke english only becos the english took over them and impose their language on them, which has sparked quite abit of resentment even til today) as Graham the tour guide at the Ben Nevis Distillery says ;" the only goodthing bout england is the road leading out of it."

Loch ness is the biggest fresh water lake in england and has more then enough water to feed england for centuries. in the 1970s.. alot of people reported sightings of a huge animal apprently a descendant of the dinosaurs. The Loch Ness monster is a apparently a hoax, cos most evidence of the monster was based on photos. And Photography wasnt as hogh tec.. alot of factors can result in a photo showing something that looks like a monster. eg, a log, a bird.. or refraction of the air above the lake.. yeah..They did sonar sweeps and found like a massive patch of heat. but thats due to hot currents. besides there's not enough food in the lake to sustain a monster of that size. so bottom line theres no monster. Tell er that.

Yeah.. then we drive through never ending mountain trails... and had a hare running across the road.. and a deer as well... seems liek the warning signs on the road of animals crossing is real..

then we had a tour of a whisky distillery.. Scotch whisky can only be made in scotland. Made from barley.. where its left to ferment to form malt and yeah.. more fermentation.. with the right mix and temperatures. whisky is made. It is kept in a oak cask for a minimum of three years so that any toxic liquids are evaporated.

We went up to thurso to do abit of fossil hunting.. not much found.. but thats cos we din have enuff time. but its interesting.. was hoping ot find my first fossil.. i saw fossilised fish scales though.. Eujin has this amzaing collection of fossils.. he bought the jaw of a dinosaur from the internet theother day.. i saw it when it arrived in the post.. amazing... i think england makes it alot easier for you to cultivate interests like that... ha. yeha.. got chance get him to show you some.. theres' like bugs from the like 400 million years ago.... you should see it.

yeah.. that's bout it for scotland... the checkered patched on the kilt of the scottish men varies according to the tribe that they are from.

shall post you the pics in abit..!

tell me bout vietnam!!!!
